The alto flute is great for students and professional musicians alike. The alto offers two types of flute lips, the Z and S cuts. The Z cut is designed for a wider sound, while the S cut will create a warmer tone, great for clear articulation and a focused low register.
From a technical point of view, the new Altus models are comparable to Muramatsu quality, as metal plates are also used under the cushion, which provides a stable cushion surface to maintain cushion adjustments for as long as possible.
